First registered on the 2nd October 2010 (60) this is a superb special edition high performance, two registered keeper 50,800 mile full franchised Saab dealer service history car, finished in Jet Black with the Parchment Premium Natural Leather interior and a superb specification.

Specification includes, the superb Saab 2.8 litre V6 twin scroll turbo 280 bhp engine, a six speed automatic transmission with Sentronic paddle shift, the Haldex 4 XWD (all wheel drive) system with eLSD (electronic limited slip differential) 19” Saab ALU 85 Alloy wheels, Saab Business Pack with Bose Audio upgrade consisting of the Saab touch screen Satellite Navigation, single CD player, Blue Tooth mobile phone connectivity with voice activation, IPod MP3 player and auxiliary input and multi waveband radio with the BOSE surround sound amplification and 11 speaker system, Climate Control, Cruise Control Electric Driver’s Seat with 3 position memory, electric front passenger seat, heated front seats, heated power fold in door mirrors, self-dipping rear view and door mirrors, headlamp wash, rain sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, Bi Xenon Cornering Headlamps

This car is very similar to the 9-3 Turbo X that Saab produced in 2008, however where Saab brought into this country a total of around 500 Turbo X’s (including both saloons and estates) a total of only ninety six 9-3 Carlsson Saloons (all with the Sentronic automatic with manual override transmission) were made exclusively for the UK market, none were available as the Sportwagon estate. The Carlsson is so named to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Swedish rally driver Eric Carlssons success in a three cylinder 750 cc Saab 96 winning the 1960 RAC rally, how things have changed in the last 50 years I think my ride on lawnmower has a bigger engine! Anyway the late great EC went on to win two more RAC rallies on the trot and campaigned Saabs to achieve many more successful first place finishes all over Europe.

The Carlsson has the same 280 bhp twin scroll turbo engine as the Turbo X it also has the same Haldex all-wheel drive transmission complete with the very clever eLSD system that enables very precise use of the torque available to rear wheels,. Generally with road going all wheel drives, the rear wheels transmit no power until the front wheels start to lose grip. Here, though, the system pre-empts what is about to happen to the car by interpreting data from sensors, and readies itself accordingly. For example, when at rest it sets the system to send most of the power to the rear wheels so they can do most of the work when the Turbo X accelerates away. Then, as the vehicle gains speed, the balance of power heads gradually to the front wheels, making the car more stable. The eLSD (electronic limited slip differential) enables more usable power to the rear wheels with more grip when needed, but uses this ability to improve the cars cornering behaviour. The 9-3 Carlsson’s body styling is very similar though not quite the same as that of the Turbo X and the cars brake and suspension set up is also very similar, however where the Carlsson is the superior car is in the amount of specification that came as standard, almost everything was loaded onto the 9-3 Carlsson as standard equipment, the Saab touch screen navigation, the Dolby Surround Sound, the Bluetooth phone integration, the electric seats and almost all the other goodies were standard equipment on this car.

The vehicles first three services were all performed by its original supplying dealer Western Saab, the first in October 2011 at 11,745 miles, the second in November 2012 at 18,951 miles and the third in May 2013 at 29,545 miles, the cars next three services were performed by North City Volvo who retained the official Saab service franchise from when they were North City Saab, with services in May 2014 at 38,076 miles, in September 2015 at 42529 miles and most recently at 47,266 miles on the 30th of August 2016, on an time elapsed basis this car will soon be due a service, this service along with a full inspection will be by my preferred local independent Saab service and repair specialists, JP Autos of Bristol www.jpautosbristol.co.uk The fully stamped service booklet along with the inspection report and copy invoices for the service and any maintenance required will form part of the cars paperwork at handover to its next owner. As a matter of course for this model I have already had the XWD system serviced by JP Auto Solutions, this included the fitting of a new hydraulic oil pump to the ELSD system, the car will also be MOT tested.

In all a very nice genuine car that has not been played with or had non standard modifications added or upgraded in any way.
