Specification includes the Saab 1.9 TiD 150 bhp 16 valve DTH turbo diesel engine with the 6 speed Sentronic Automatic gearbox, 17" Saab ALU81 Alloy Wheels, ABS, Climate Control with Air-Conditioning, Cruise Control, Driver and front seat passengers front and side Air-bags with side "curtain" type Air-bags, 60/40 split fold down rear seats, Electronic Stability Program, Heated Seats, The Saab Audio System with multi waveband radio, CD player, MP3 / IPod auxiliary input, Saab Information Display and the extra cost Saab Bluetooth Connectivity system, Rear Parking Sensors, Remote Central Locking and Alarm.

A very smart and good looking car, practical and economical with a more than enough performance for most people, the car has the extra cost Saab Sport Leather Seats (£750 that are the same as those fitted to the 9-3 Aero Models, the standard seat on this model are the less comfortable and not so good looking textile and leather “Half Leather” seats. The vehicle is also fitted with the Saab Bluetooth mobile phone compatibility system (£375) the Bluetooth mobile phone compatibility is a very useful extra it enable most types of mobile phone to be married to the cars systems enabling hands free making and answering of calls, voice activated dialling and access to the phones directory through the cars own information system, in all the car has around £1,100 of extra cost specification that add considerably to both to the look and functionality of the vehicle. It is worth pointing out that although most 9-3 models have the phone buttons on the steering wheel only a few actually have the mobile phone connectivity system.

The cars Sentronic Automatic gearbox works very well with its 150 bhp turbo diesel engine, it can be used in either of two modes, ones as a conventional Automatic gearbox, or as a semi-automatic with changes manually selected by using the two “paddles” mounted on the steering wheel or by rocking the centrally mounted gear selector forwards and backwards, forwards for up-shifts and backwards for downshifts, personally I prefer to leave the car in its default Automatic mode and let the car do all the work, I think this particular model is a much better car to drive as the Automatic model.

I know this car very well having sold the family a number of Saab's, its elderly gentleman owner bought the vehicle from me in August 2011 with only 10,424 miles at the time he was 81 years old and a very low mileage user, however to him having his own car was a symbol of his independence having spent most of his working life as a self-employed driving instructor, in his retirement he was still very much a keen and conscientious car owner, however as can be seen by the cars minuscule annual mileage because of his health he was not often able to actually drive the vehicle, it spent far more time locked away in his garage than it did either on his drive or being used on the road, however while he was able that did not prevent him keeping the car in a virtually immaculate condition and very well maintained, I swear the car is in a better condition now than when I sold it to him 6 years ago.

Since I sold the car to him on the 5th August 2011 he has had four services performed on the car, all by my preferred local Saab service specialists J P Auto Solutions of Bristol, with services at 10,591 miles, 12,411 miles, 13,394 miles and 14,040 miles, prior to his ownership of the car its first service was performed by Riders Saab of Falmouth at 5,577 miles in June 2010. Purely on a time elapsed basis the car is now due a service, this service along with a thorough inspection will be performed by J P Auto Solutions , the car will also be MOT tested. In all a truly superb example riding on a first class set of Continental tyres, I doubt if a similar extremely low mileage example will ever come my way again. I have all the cars MOT tests from its first in 2012.
